FAQs
Termite Inspection & Treatment questions
How often should I get a termite inspection?
The Australian Standard recommends at least every 12 months for most properties, and more often in higher risk areas — near bushland or reserves, on properties with a history of activity, or where there are stumps, retaining walls and heavy garden beds against the building.
Does home insurance cover termite damage?
Standard home and contents policies almost never cover termite damage. That is why an annual inspection is such cheap insurance compared with a repair bill for structural timbers.
I found termites — should I spray them?
No. Disturbing or spraying an active workings is the worst thing you can do, because the colony retreats and moves elsewhere in the structure. Leave the workings intact, cover them back over, and call us so we can treat the colony properly.
What is the difference between a barrier and a baiting system?
A chemical soil barrier is a treated zone around the building that termites cannot cross undetected. A baiting system uses stations that termites feed on and share back through the colony, eliminating it. The right choice depends on your construction, soil, landscaping and budget — we explain both after inspecting.
